How to read your LUFS results
- Integrated LUFS
- The loudness measured across your track. Use it to compare complete mixes, rather than judging by the loudest instant.
- True peak · dBTP
- An estimate of peaks in the reconstructed signal, including between samples. Check it alongside loudness before adding gain.
- Loudness range · LU
- How much the loudness varies over time. A larger number means more variation, not automatically a better master.
- Sample peak · dBFS
- The highest stored sample level. It can be lower than true peak, so the two measurements are not interchangeable.
The FFmpeg ebur128 scanner measures the full track. Silence or audio below its measurement gate returns an unavailable loudness value. These measurements do not determine audio quality or distribution acceptance.
What happens to a −10 LUFS track on Spotify?
With Spotify’s Normal loudness setting at −14 LUFS, a −10 LUFS track is turned down by approximately 4 dB during playback. If its true peak starts at −1 dBTP, the same gain reduction takes it to approximately −5 dBTP. This is an illustrative calculation; this checker does not change your file.
−14 LUFS is a playback reference, not a requirement for every master. Spotify’s normalization can depend on playback settings and is unavailable in some players. Read Spotify’s loudness guidance or our LUFS guide for Suno tracks.
