Identify the source, not just its extension
A file called final.wav may be a generator download, a DAW master or a conversion from a compressed preview. Write down its history before making another version. Keep an untouched copy beside the working file.

A high nominal bitrate describes an encoding choice, not proof that missing detail has returned. Likewise, a low detector score does not establish that a file is lossless or that a named watermark disappeared.
